With the goal of boosting a professional profile of olympic sailors and attract media and strong sponsors,  ISAF has projected a new format for the Sailing World Cup (SWC).  What they are basically aiming is to copy the format of professional sports such as Moto GP or F1, where only the elite compete between each other.  in this case the top 25 plus some wild cards.

The highest level will be granted in each event, and so the media atention will grow.  If they manage to handle the change efectively and bring mass media to the new Sailing World Cup, for sure it´s going to be a good thing.  For the rest of the teams, It should be a good incentive to train hard and reach the goal of the sailing elite!!
